A Whittaker’s Distillery Tour is your chance to get a behind the scenes look at a working distillery producing internationally award winning gins and now whisky. You will be guided through the history of Whittaker’s and shown round the distillery either by Co-founder Toby, Master Distiller or his wife Jane who is a Master of everything else!
When you arrive, you will be offered either a Gin and Tonic or beverage of your choice. Then it is off for a look at the old distillery building where you will get to see, taste and smell all the botanicals used in the gin making process, where the gin is stored before bottling and then The second part of the tour takes you over into the new purpose built distillery building which is now where all the distilling is done.
You will be shown and talked through the gin making process and also walk you through the beer making and distilling steps involved in making whisky. We would love you to ask any questions you may have.
So the actual tour lasts about 30 to 40 minutes and then back into the café for a full gin tasting and delicious nibbles. We will be serving locally made, award-winning pork pies and other goodies while you sit back and enjoy the tasting.
This is usually about 8 gins.
For those of you who are driving, you can take home a 5cl bottle of your choice and a bottle of tonic so you can have your G&T in the comfort of your own home so no one is left out. When you have sampled all the gins, you can then choose which one you would like in a Gin and Tonic so you can relax and chat or wonder round the shop.
For group bookings of 12 people and over, we can arrange alternative dates and times to suit your needs and for parties of 12 or over, you will receive a goodie bag for each person (a medium Whittaker’s Balloon Glass, a botanical jar and a bottle of Double Dutch Tonic Water). The perfect venue for your Hen party or just simply a gathering for you and your friends. You never need an excuse to drink Whittaker’s Gin!
